Santa & Cole Globo Pendant Lamp

Created by Miguel Mila in 2018, the Santa & Cole Globo Cesta Pendant lamp reminds one of a hanging balloon basket and hence the name. Miguel Mila was inspired by the traditional lanterns that light up the coastal houses, terraces, and balconies of houses of the Mediterranean. He also cherished an opal glass globe that he found outside a glasshouse in Barcelona. These two together took shape as the design for Santa & Cole Cesta Lamp series produced since 1962. With the opal glass sphere as the lampshade, he created various lamps with the same basket-like structure, as – table, floor, and ceiling lamps. These are considered as Miguel Mila’s iconic, timeless creations.

Santa & Cole Globo Cesta Pendant Lamp has a minimalist design at its best. Unlike the other variants, the opal glass lampshade of the lamp is unrestrained by any structural support. It beautifully replicates the lantern structure. It hangs from a black metallic circular canopy fixed to the ceiling. The suspension cable is strong, durable, and height-adjustable. The opal glass shade is made by traditional glassblowing manually by skilled European craftsmen. It has an opening at the bottom to help fix the lamp. The lamp gives out a diffused warm light and a radiant illumination downward through the opening. It is ideal for dining area, hallways, bedroom, etc. and can also enhance the décor in an office or a recreational setting.
